PRETTY WOMAN SEEN THROUGH OUR PRETTY EYES

PRETTY WOMAN Comedy Romance

Pretty Woman Poster

Who would have ever thought that watching a hooker and a rich businessman (played by Julia Roberts and Richard Gere) find true love in each other could be so romantic, magical, beautifully surprising, interesting and heart-warming...Tissue anyone? Because J.F Lawton (writer) and Gary Marshall (director) successfully makes it happen in the film Pretty Woman 1990.

From the minute this show began it grabbed my attention. Pretty Woman was not only a love movie but a statement to society. It showed the world that love can meet you anywhere and at any angle level place you are at in your life. It showed the audience that the heart is a very powerful thing that cannot be reckoned with but it also highlighted the patriarchal thinking that once the man is getting good sex and the woman's purse is filled with cash their relationship will blossom into something beautiful. What is so funny is that 22 years later these two main things are the two major reasons that brings a couple together and tears them apart. A good film indeed! "

Pretty Woman is a movie which I think is sort of a cute love story. To me its very romantic that such a rich man can actually and genuinely take a hooker from off the streets and clothe her and give her somewhere to stay and falling in love with her at the same time. To me it shows that who you are does not define who you love.

It's a classic movie, one of my favourites actually. It's Cinderella theme of a misunderstood down town hooker who charms her not so likely Prince Charming gives girls and women a real version of their favourite fairy tale classics. One of my favourite scenes in particular was actually the last scene in the movie when Edward Lewis played by Richard Gere realises that he's in love with her and in a Rapunzel style fashion faces his fear of heights as he climbs the emergency fire escape to claim his princess. It's just one of those movies that remain great throughout time, true version of a classic.

Pretty woman has always had a special place in my heart. Sure it's about a hooker and a soulless banker having an implausible fairytale romance but I'm a sucker for creative retelling of stories and this one is pretty straight up Cinderella. Re-watching the film today, I am surprised how good looking the movie still is. The characters are likeable, the story is charming if unlikely and there are lots of  very earnest moments that suck you into the story. Edward lewis (Richard Gere reminded me that he did in fact used to be look pretty hot) is at a party for his company. What we really learn from that scene is that he is an obscenely wealthy workaholic who cannot maintain a relationship with a woman because he is too absorbed in his job. But he's still likeable somehow;you get the feeling that he just can't figure out how to connect with a woman, not that he's totally self-centred. The main moral I learn from this story is that for one opposites to attract. The fact he fell in love with a woman that is completely opposite to him. They both were in love and happy for what they had to offer both based on one fact they both held was happiness.

Pretty woman is one of those movies that will always stand the test of time. It is a twist on the conventional Beauty and the Beast story. This happy go lucky stripper meets this cold hearted bank executive and happens to change his mind and his heart on a lot of things in life. This movie will live on as one of the best movies ever created. It not only tells ladies that there is a Prince Charming out there but it also shows us that love has no bounds and no limits In this case we see love conquering all and bringing two people together from two totally different  worlds and allowing them to develop a love that could not be broken. Maybe it was her happy free spirit or his determination and drive but either way they saw something in each other that blossomed. And it is because of this that we can still be talking about Pretty Woman today; timeless love story with endless possibilities.
